Random on Purpose

Fall 2020

When it comes to password protection, and security on the internet, random is a superpower. To illustrate this, we looked to nature and one creature that embraces this survival tactic: the rabbit. Randomly zigging and zagging to outwit predators, rabbits leverage unpredictability as their key to survival. Being random means the prey gets to laugh at the predator, we get to outwit the algorithm. There's a sense of joyous evasion as being more random in passwords, and in life, can be freeing. This idea of random, or random on purpose, gave us carte blanche when it came to getting weirdly wonderful with how we visually executed this creative idea.

To add to the spirit of random this work was created using a mixture of stock footage, CG creature animation, FX simulation, design and motion graphics—all while working remotely during quarantine.
